Mutants & Masterminds: Archetype Archive 2 is just what it says it is, a collection of ten new archetypes. Archetypes (in the M&M sense) are packages of statistics, skills and powers to simulate various ?standard? sorts of characters from the superheroic genre (or comic books if you prefer that term).

Each of the Archetypes comes with a strong full color illustration that conveys the sense of the Archetype?s abilities and style (although the agent and elastic hero?s illustrations are a bit lackluster). Each character is fully presented for a standard Power Level 10 / 150 Character Points campaigns.

Among the character types explored in this archive are: the Agent, the entirely non-powered but entirely dangerous and super-competent professional. Animal Powers, those who embody an animal be it a totem spirit, genetic manipulation or whatever (with six sub-variants: arachnid, bird, cat, crustacean, insect and reptile). Jungle Lord, swinging from tree to tree (or building to building) with his faithful animal companion. Living Weapon, they are the best at what they do.

Like the first Archetype Archive, this is a useful tool for both players and Games Masters. Players get examples of what sorts of characters can be constructed and how to simulate various types of characters. Games Masters get a pool of pre-generated character statistics to draw on. The only thing lacking is short description of the archetypes with an example characters for each a hero and villain version to allow them to be instantly dropped into a game.

A good addition to the available resources for Mutants & Masterminds.

LIKED: More characters!

QUALITY: Very Good

VALUE: Satisfied
Another great set of set of characters for players to choose from. It definitely gives players a choice or it jump starts their creative juices. The art is good too. I'm going to but the whole series.

LIKED: The art. The amount of character choices.

QUALITY: Very Good

VALUE: Very Satisfied
The Archetype Archive is a good little collection of easy to use basic characters. They are neatly fit on one page for easy print out and use.

QUALITY: Acceptable

VALUE: Satisfied
Another ten character archetypes, all still iconic in their own way, although they're starting to look a little more like versions of specific characters rather than universal archetypes. There are few more iron-agey characters in here, like the "Living Weapon" and the "Cyborg".

Each has the same full-page format as AA1 and the artwork is up to the same high standard.

LIKED: Good clear layout, range of characters, value for money.

DISLIKED: Nothing.

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Very Satisfied
Even better than Archtype Archive #1, this included many of the more popular archtypes from recent movies ( cough FF/X2 cough). 10 awesome archtypes for a great price, I'd gladly pay for additional PDFs like this if the quality remains consistant!

LIKED: Everything...what's not to like? There are obvious nods to Mr Fantastic (Reed Richards), Nightcrawler and Wolverine....and at PL10, not some overblown PL25 templates! I was overjoyed to see these included.

More, please, ASAP! :)

DISLIKED: The archtypes (from both #1 & #2) weren't included in the M&M2ed dead tree format.

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Very Satisfied
