D12 With Pips! Now that's not something you see every day.

There are some odd dice in the world, and one of them is sitting on my desk right now: a d12 with pips (dots) instead of numbers on the faces. So I decided to make a font out of it.

Actually, I made 6 fonts -- the six different styles found in dTwelve With Pips.

This makes a perfect free promo for the other Wintertree fonts: the d6, the polyhedra, and all the many fonts soon to come. (ancient alphabets, ciphers, esoteric scripts, symbols like semaphore, even Egyptian hieroglyphs).

Except for being just the numbers 1-12 in dots, dTwelve With Pips contains all of the features of a regular Wintertree dice font. The six fonts in the package are each of the six styles. And, just as with the other Wintertree dice fonts but unlike any other dice font out there, you can create shaded "3D" dice with nothing more than your word processor.

Styles included:

  • Sharp White
  • Sharp Black
  • Rounded White
  • Rounded Black
  • Minimalist White
  • Minimalist Black

In addition to the conventional styles of dice, with a little bit of work -- a very little bit, it requires typing only 3 or 4 characters each, to set the colors -- you can create shaded "3D" dice in any color you want.

The included PDF file explains how to set up the shaded "3D" dice.

Wintertree fonts -- What little fonts want to be when they grow up!

Be sure to take a look at Wintertree's other fonts, including ancient and esoteric alphabets, dice, ciphers, hieroglyphs, and many other useful fonts for gamers.

FONT LICENSE INFORMATION: Wintertree fonts are licensed as ordinary commerical fonts. This means you can install the font on your computer to use with programs such as word processors, design tools and similar applications, and use it for creation of print or PDF documents, images (JPEG, TIFF, PNG, etc.) and logos. In other words, you can use the Wintertree fonts to make things with and sell the things you make, but you can't sell the font itself in any way, or use it as a web font (@font-face). Credit is gratefully appreciated but not required.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
